The average download speed for Virgin 10mb service was between 8.1 and 8.7mb, with O2 being the next in line with 4.1 to 5.1mb and Sky Broadband just behind that. It does depend on where you are in relation to your local phone exchange, but speeds can vary.
Get fibre optic broadband from Virginmedia.com/fast from only £15 per month for the first three months and then £20 a month thereafter. No phone line is required for the virginmedia.com/fast service, but you will have to be in a Virgi media broadband area to get up to 10mb downloads.

Forget it, supposed to be upgraded Free from 2-10mb but still waiting in my area. They said end of Aug 2009, well we will see……3 days to go
